YELLOW DOG LINUX v5.0.2 RELEASE NOTES 1. Hardware Support This YDL release supports the Sony PLAYSTATION(R) 3, PPC970 and POWER5 based IBM pSeries (beta support) as well as Apple Macintosh G3, G4, and G5 computers While it is possible to make the provided packages (RPMs) work on other Power-architecture systems, it is not supported nor recommended at this time. Support for additional Power architecture systems is forthcoming. 2. Wireless Support Wireless is now supported on the PS3. Configuration instructions are available at the Terra Soft Solutions website: http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/solutions/ydl_5.0/ps3-wifi-config2.shtml Support for some revisions of Apple Airport Extreme chipsets has proved to be difficult with limited reliability. We are actively working on fixes to improve the functionality and reliability of all Airport Extreme chipsets. Please review the Terra Soft website for information concerning support for other wireless devices (ie: Airport, PCMCIA, USB). 3. Bluetooth Bluetooth devices are readily seen by Linux, but support for unique devices is case-by-case, sometimes with a great deal of effort. 4. Enlightenment E17 A Quick Start Tutorial for YDL v5.0.2 and E17 is available as the default home page of Firefox as well as on-line: http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/support/configuration/ 5. Installer Bugs Network installs are not functional on the PS3 and only network installs are functional on IBM JS20/JS21 systems. Kickstart installations are not supported on the PS3. 6. Userspace Bugs Under E17, root's user menus are different than a normal users menus and contain some invalid menu entries. To fix your menus use the following the commands: rm -rf /root/.e/e/applications cp -r /etc/skel/.e/e/applications /root/.e/e/ Some components of E17 will not shutdown cleanly and may require you to use "Logout Now" button when prompted. Because menu's are shared between platforms, boot-game-os will be in your menus on non-PS3 platforms. Running boot-game-os on an Apple or pSeries machine may display some harmless errors but will have no adverse effects on the machine. 7.
